Living in Co-creative Partnership with Nature: A Path to Wholeness

  • Sweetwater Sanctuary  Danby, VT (map)
Gardens at Sweetwater

Gardens at Sweetwater

Join ONE vision council members Pam Montgomery, Jen Frey, and Lauren Valle for this dynamic weekend of coming home to our first and true Mother as we heal our relationship with her.

Connecting with Sweetwater Creek

Connecting with Sweetwater Creek

At this time in our evolution we have the privilege of being present here on Earth as she is in rapid transformation. As the Earth shifts, we are asked to adapt and, more importantly, to evolve into the Earth Stewards we are meant to be, taking up our rightful place as part of Nature. When we accept our role as co-creative partners with Nature, a new world emerges where all life can thrive. We continuously have access to support and guidance from Nature and our allies and realize that we are never alone. We move into the flow, working with Nature. Often overwhelming tasks become easy or perceived impossibilities become possible.

The Center at Sweetwater Sanctuary

The Center at Sweetwater Sanctuary

During this weekend we will engage in the process of becoming co-creative partners with Earth as we delve deeply into the ways to create good partnership:

  • Healing separation

  • Effective communication

  • Self-love

  • Trust

  • Joyful encounter

From within co-creative partnership we rise to walk in balance, coming home to ourselves and our Mother Earth, while we experience the interconnected web of life.

About Sweetwater Sanctuary

Sweetwater Sanctuary, our venue for this weekend, sits at the base of Marble Mountain and is surrounded by 10,000 acres of conserved land. Heart Spring, just outside our back door, brings forth from the Earth “wild water” which nourishes all your cells as you drink the most delicious water you can imagine. The lifeblood of the land is the mountain stream that flows centrally through the Sanctuary. It is this life-giving water that we listen to as we settle into our hearts and go into depth perception. The gardens are full of medicinal herbs, beautiful flowers and nourishing food. Wander amongst the wild plants and forest full of mixed hardwoods and evergreens while being touched by the embrace of nature. This land has received many ceremonies over the years and prayers are made on a regular basis. Your experience here goes beyond information exchange touching into your heart, soul and spirit for core integration, assimilation, and connection with yourself and nature. The Nature Beings of Sweetwater Sanctuary know how to live in community and want to welcome us back into co-creative partnership so that we all may thrive. As you are held in the nurturing fold of Sweetwater Sanctuary transformation is not only possible but probable.

You will:

  • Have restorative time immersed in the vibrant nature of Sweetwater Sanctuary

  • Connect deeply with your Nature Ally

  • Uncover the roots of separation hindering a deeper relationship with Earth

  • Gather in community around a Fire circle

  • Develop a personal path for moving forward in co-creative partnership with Nature

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE STUDIED WITH PAM BEFORE: This is not Plant Spirit Healing or Plant Communication. This workshop focuses on co-creative partnership and it’s various aspects with an emphasis on healing our separation from nature. Pam has never taught this class before so this is not work you have done before.

Reconnecting Ecology, Culture, and Spirituality

Kalliopeia Foundation is responding to a need—a global challenge—to take spiritual as well as physical responsibility for our common home. Our programs and those we support engage with contemporary issues at their root, with the understanding that ecological, cultural, and spiritual renewal are interdependent.

We envision a future rooted in fundamental values, such as compassion, respect, dignity, reverence for nature, and care for each other and the Earth. Our work strives to embody the following core principles:

  • Life Is Sacred: Honoring all life as sacred; expressing reverence for one another, the Earth, and life as a whole.
  • Interconnectedness: Approaching ecology, culture, and spirituality as inextricably interdependent.
  • Innovation: Generating creative ideas and outcomes through simple, meaningful engagement with others and the Earth.
  • Service: Embracing an ethic of care—the essential and natural aspiration to respond to needs beyond our own.

Kalliopeia’s Story

In 1997, Kalliopeia was founded as an independent private foundation to help support people and organizations who are working to bring spiritual values into institutions and systems of everyday life and work. The name “Kalliopeia” means beautiful voice and refers to the first of the nine Greek muses. She is associated with heroic poetry, justice, and transforming lower qualities into higher.

The Earthling Movie
Sep 15 – Nov 15 all-day

OJAI, Calif — Planet Earth is not a star but it rises to outright star status in one of the most fascinating film documentaries of 2019.

In “The Earthing Movie,” produced by award-winning filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell, the curtain rises to demonstrate − to very unsuspecting audiences – that our planet packs surprisingly huge healing properties.

The film relates the discovery of the healing power of the planet’s electrically charged surface, a natural, perpetual energy shown in multiple studies over the last 20 years to significantly reduce inflammation, pain, and stress, produce deeper sleep, more energy, and improve circulation.

Earthing, also known as grounding, refers to accessing these major health benefits by walking outdoors on natural surfaces or using commercially available grounding products indoors while you sit or sleep.

In short, Earthing is a simple lifestyle addition that connects you to the Earth’s healing touch.  You get the benefits without effort or dieting.

The Earthing movie debuted at the Sedona International Film Festival earlier this year to a packed audience of 750 people.  It subsequently won the Audience Award at the Dances With Films Festival at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood in June.

Connections between peace, climate protection, SDGs and disarmament

UN Charter (Article 26) recognises the connection between disarmament and sustainable development. Article 26 requires the UN to facilitate disarmament ‘in order to promote the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security with the least diversion for armaments of the world’s human and economic resources.’

More recently the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes that there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development. In addition, Securing our Common Future: An Agenda for Disarmament, the disarmament agenda released in 2018 by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, outlines the links between disarmament and many of the SDGs.

Key events and actions:

Sep 21: International Day for Peace

  • UN event: International Day of Peace Student Observance, United Nations, 20 September 2019. Watch it on webtv.un.org
  • Peace One Day event in London: with civil society leaders and celebrities that will be live-streamed globally.
  • List your event at Peace One Day, a global platform to share, find out about or join actions for Peace Day.

For further information see the UN website on International Day for Peace. Share your ideas and activities through #PeaceDay and #ClimateAction.

 Sep 23: UN Climate Summit

Action: Call on your government to commit in New York to deeper reductions in carbon emissions, a faster transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies, and reductions in military budgets in order to fund climate protection.

Sep 24-25: Summit on Sustainable Development

Action: Call on your government to highlight at the SDG Summit the importance of peace and demilitarisation in achieving the SDGs, and support the proposal of Kazakhstan that all countries redirect 1% of their military budget to the SDGs.

Sep 26: International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

Actions:
a) Encourage your Prime Minister/President to attend the Sep 26 UN High-Level Meeting on Nuclear Disarmament and call on all States to never launch a nuclear war, and to negotiate for the abolition and elimination of nuclear weapons;
b) Organise a screening of ‘The Man who saved the World’ or other action for Nuclear Abolition Day.

Climate Action Summit 2019

The Secretary-General will convene a Climate Action Summit in September 2019 to bring climate action to the top of the international agenda. Mr. Luis Alfonso de Alba, a former Mexican diplomat, will be his Special Envoy to lead its preparations.

The Summit will focus on the heart of the problem – the sectors that create the most emissions and the areas where building resilience could make the biggest difference – as well as provide leaders and partners the opportunity to demonstrate real climate action and showcase their ambition.

Thrive Circle

Transition Thrive can be thought of as the sequel to Transition Launch Training. While Launch focuses on the first few steps of the Transition process – understanding the global context, forming an initiating group, raising awareness, and cultivating partnerships with like-minded organizations – Thrive builds upon this foundation to provide answers to how to broaden, deepen, and scale up the impacts of local community resilience-building initiatives over time.

Over the course of eight weekly sessions, you will form mutually-supportive relationships with other participants, develop new abilities and knowledge, receive guidance for overcoming the specific challenges you are facing, and create a robust action plan to take your work to the next level.

Prior participation in a Transition Launch Training is recommended, but not required. This course is open to social change activists from all over the world, but is currently only available in English.

Sessions at a Glance

1. Maps for the Transition Journey (October 3): Identify your initiative’s current strengths and weaknesses using the Transition Healthcheck and explore how The Five Stages of Transition can provide an achievable path to thriving.

2. Cultivating the Collective Genius (October 10): In this session, we will look closely at our individual wholeness and unique collaboration styles while exploring ways of cultivating these so that the collective genius in our groups is more likely to emerge.

Transition Manifesto3. Running Successful, Practical Projects (October 17): This session will share design ideas for projects that bring tangible benefits to your community, engage and energize volunteers, and support working groups to be effective and rewarding.

4. Reaching Beyond the Choir (October 24): Learn how to create a tipping point of support for your initiative and cultivate strategic partnerships by telling your best stories, harvesting metrics, and designing value propositions.

5. Building Momentum and Capacity (October 31): In this session, we will cover running larger campaigns, forming diverse coalitions, taking a multi-faceted approach to fundraising, and establishing a healthy formal organization.

6. System-Changing Strategies (November 7): This session will explore the mindsets, practices, and structures that support community-wide and whole systems strategies, such as creating localized food systems or transforming local economies.

7. In It for Life (November 14): Here, we will discuss some of the unique challenges we encounter as long-term change-makers, and will suggest tools, mindsets, inner postures, and practices that help us stay inspired and prevent burnout.

8. Bringing It All Back Home (November 21): In this final session, we will circle back to the Transition Healthcheck to harvest key insights from this course, address major challenges, and create an action plan for your group to thrive!

How Does It Work?

Thrive Online consists of a series of eight pre-recorded presentations that will be made available for you to watch before engaging in weekly 90-minute live videoconferences exploring each of these topics in greater depth. We will also provide you with access to a private discussion forum that you can use to share resources and continue conversations in between sessions.

Please don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself to be tech-savvy. The platforms we use are designed to be easy to navigate, and we will provide personalized technical assistance throughout the course to ensure that your experience is as enjoyable as humanly possible.

While this online format enables you to participate in an international learning cohort from the comfort of your own home – at a lower cost and with a smaller carbon footprint than traditional face-to-face offerings – if you’d prefer to host a Thrive Training in your local community, please click here to learn more about how to do that.

mount shasta.jpg

You’re invited to enjoy a very special weekend of renewal and transformation on powerful Mount Shasta in Northern California. Long considered one of the seven sacred mountains of the world, Mount Shasta holds a vibrant transformative energy that seekers the world over travel to experience. Graceful and deeply profound, Mount Shasta is an immense energy center filled with opportunities to connect deeply with the Heart of the Living Earth. How long has it been since you listened?

Your guided journey begins at 4pm on Thursday October 3rd with a welcoming circle and delicious dinner, and ends on Sunday October 6th at 12pm with our closing circle. Throughout your experience you will enjoy opportunities to connect and communicate with Pachamama and the more than human beings that she nourishes. You will:

shasta group.jpg
  • ·Travel to the Mountain for exploration and prayers

  • Learn simple yet profound techniques to help you more easily hear the language of non verbal beings, including Heart Coherence, extra sensory perception, Grazing, and Earthing

  • Experience communication with the Water People, Rock People, Animal People, Plant People, Tree People and the Mountain Herself

  • Be transformed through earth based ceremony

  • Feast in joyful communion in our Sacred Kitchen

  • Make an alchemical sacred anointing oil that you’ll take home

  • Enjoy lively discussions, laughter and heart-centered community connection

This will be a time of deeply connecting to oneself, the mountain, nature and the cosmic forces supporting our spiritual evolution. We live in a sacred world that is not just more complex than we think – it’s more complex than we can think. We’ll move out of the “thinking ball” on top of our bodies and settle deep into our hearts to learn a new language. We go to the mountain to listen. We go for new direction. We go to play. You’ll return home with a renewed sense of connection, gratitude, and deep appreciation for the unique and interconnected place you hold in life’s tapestry.

Lodging

Lodging opportunities at our retreat center include shared bedrooms in the main house, shared space in the smaller yurt (yurt spaces include a bed and curtains to separate your space from the rest of the yurt if desired), and “glamping” tent sites with two beds per tent. You might initially feel awkward about sharing sleeping rooms, but part of the weekend’s experience is to remember the gifts of community that come with sharing space in a world that supports increasing isolation. If you have a preference for a particular space, please indicate your preference when you register and we’ll do our very best to accommodate you. See slide show below for photos.

Things to Bring

  • An item from your kitchen that has personal significance to you. These will be placed on our Sacred Kitchen alter, and you’ll take them home again at the end of the journey.

  • A homemade gift for our giveaway. This could be a piece of art, a jar of jam, a poem – anything you’ve personally made with your hands and your heart.

  • Folding camp chair and blanket for your outdoor comfort. The evenings can be chilly on the mountain in early October.

  • Sunscreen

  • Water Bottles. I recommend bringing extras to fill with fresh living spring water from the Sacramento River Headwaters so you can take some of this amazing water home with you.

  • Paper or journal, with an extra pen.

  • Drums, rattles, guitars, and other musical instruments – if you wish

  • A walking stick (optional)

  • A day pack

  • Snacks or special foods you might need.

Meet Your Facilitators

Julie Caldwell, MA

julie+in+shop1.jpg

Over two decades ago Julie opened the doors of Humboldt Herbals ~ a full service herbal apothecary located in the heart of the Redwoods on the pristine northern California coast. She and her staff of experienced herbalists now serve hundreds of community members each month who rely on Humboldt Herbals as a primary source of health care.

Originally from Alabama, Julie grew up with a plant talking granny, a pharmacist father, an artist mother, and loads of fiddle-playing, guitar picking relatives. Her first serious relationship with a plant began over 45 years ago at age 5, when she became great friends with a wild black cherry tree her granny called Crazy Doug. Julie’s “formal” education includes a BS in research psychology and biology, a MA in contemporary American poetry, and many, many herb classes including extensive studies with Pam Montgomery. The works of Pam, Stephen Harrod Buhner and Rosemary Gladstar have greatly influenced her herbal approach. She serves on the Visioning Council for the Organization of Nature Evolutionaries, and continues to enjoy a long history of spiritual exploration with wise ones from various traditions around the world.

Julie offers personal sessions, classes and herb walks in the Humboldt County area, and facilitates ongoing retreats in sacred Mount Shasta. To learn more about Julie’s classes, services, and herb shop, you can sign up for the Humboldt Herbals monthly newsletter at www.humboldtherbals.com.

Elyshia Holliday

elyshia+flowers+2a.jpg

In the spring of 2000 Elyshia left her thriving naturopathic practice in the Central Valley of California and moved to the mountains of New Mexico, where she co-founded a non-profit organization dedicated to healing the relationship between human beings and Mother Earth. She studied with many teachers and elders in the course of supporting this mission, who were called upon to guide and share their innate perspective of living as part of a whole earth system. Their wisdom and knowledge has had a profound influence on the way Elyshia views life, healing, and our basic guardianship of earth.

Growing up in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon created a unique opportunity to be close to the mountains, waters, trees and the wild in her everyday life. The quietness of the land allowed Elyshia to learn to listen to nature, to the wind blowing through the tall pines and currents of the river flowing across skin. It was good preparation!

Although it seems the most important things she learned came from elders, the cosmos and the Earth herself, Elyshia’s formal education includes a BS in Biology with concentrations in molecular biology and biochemistry as well as Master Herbalist, Master Iridologist and Naturopathy certificates from the School of Natural Medicine in Boulder, Colorado where she studied with Farida Sharan.

Julie and Elyshia at the Global Earth Repair Conference

Julie and Elyshia at the Global Earth Repair Conference

Much of the work Elyshia has done and continues to do is centered around community group facilitation, sacred nourishment, and helping people expand their relationship with Mother Earth. Since 2016 she has initiated and been engaged with a multi year regeneration project focused on healing the human-land-water relationship, especially in relation to erosion, desertification and the balance of the masculine and feminine. Elyshia continues to contribute in New Mexico and is the Executive Director of O.N.E..

Deposit and Registration

Deposit of $150 holds your place (nonrefundable). We will email registration form after we receive your deposit. The remaining balance of the sliding scale you choose is due by August 25th. Please email info@natureevolutionaries with any questions.

For 7 Days of Rest & Radiant Diversity January 1 – 7, 2020 individuals and groups across the world will create and participate in events dedicated to cultivating Harmony in Diversity – a core organizing principle of Codes for a Healthy Earth. Together we will co-create an experiential journey to cultivate peace and empathy with each other and with all of Life. The event offers a creative space for partners and supporters of the Codes to share their unique offerings and wisdom for nourishing a global culture that honors and celebrates the diversity of Creation.

Welcome to 7 Days of Rest

7 Days of Rest is an annual global event that takes place the first week of every year. The aim of the event is to begin the new year by co-creating a global unified field of intention and experience dedicated to the healing and replenishment of the planet and all its inhabitants.

The event provides an open, co-creative space for individuals and groups around the world to freely share and self-organize online and physical events such as retreats, webinars, meditations, ceremonies, sacred activism, artistic expression and more.

For 2020, 7 Days of Rest & Radiant Diversity, will be dedicated to exploring and remembering the essential nature of Life-enhancing diversity. Together we will cultivate our capacity to engage with ourselves, each other, and the world around us with greater empathy and wisdom, and learn about the vitalizing nature of our similarities, differences, and complementarities.

7 days of rest & radiant diversity january 1 – 7, 2020

An Invitation

During the first 7 Days of 2020

individuals and groups around the world

unite to co-create a global field of intention

dedicated to cultivating harmony in diversity.

We rest from our habitual patterns of how see
and relate to
the world around us and within us.

Inspired by the foundations of Life,

we reconnect with the Language of Vibration-

the primal Language of Life.

Awakening our senses in new ways,

we remember a deeper capacity for communion

with Mother Earth and all Her Children

and recognize more and more of ourselves in the “other”

and the “other” in ourselves.

Each day we discover and befriend

diverse human and non-human perspectives,
nourishing our gratitude and empathy for all of Creation.

Together we honor and celebrate the multi-faceted,

mutually-enriching nature of existence.

and shine our unique colors

in harmony with each other and all of Life.

Introducing
Codes for a Healthy Earth

For the first time, the upcoming 7 Days of Rest will be directly connected with another global initiative called Codes for a Healthy Earth. Codes for a Healthy Earth offers a foundational whole-system framework to support citizens in working together across national, cultural and ideological boundaries for radical system transformation and rapid social and ecological regeneration. One of the core organizing principles for the “Codes” is cultivating harmony in diversity.

The 7 Days of Rest and Reflection is dedicated to cultivating Sacred Relationship with all of Life. Given this intention, we are delighted to dedicate this event to the White Lions and Lionesses of Tsau, and the work of Linda Tucker and Jason A. Turner, founders of the Global White Lion Protection Trust.

As we move into the 7 Days, we invite you to pass through the White Lion and Lioness Gateway of Sacred Relationship that has inspired this event and our ongoing work as Together in Creation.

We also encourage participants to join in the Gateway Meditations offered by Cynthia Jurs and David Nicol on the first and last day of the event, connecting with a global mandala grid of vases laid by the Earth Treasure Vase Healing Project over the last 30 years.

And most of all we invite you to enrich yourselves with the abundance of generous resources offered by the global community to create your own meaningful and replenishing journey through the 7 Days.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Given the co-creative, emergent nature of this event, this website will continue to evolve over the week with new events and updates.

Each individual and group is invited to honour these 7 days in ways that are most meaningful to them. We recommend that you prepare for the event by sensing into and clarifying your intention for this sacred time and doing what is possible to create the optimal conditions for you to manifest this intention.

While the journey through the 7 days is a very personal one, we will offer suggestions for each day that provide an opportunity to weave meaning and deepen your experience along different themes and through different gateways.

Calendar Pages are dedicated to each day – representing one of the Foundations of Life. On these pages you will find inspiration, resources, and local and online events specific for those days. New events and information will be added on a daily basis so please check the website regularly to enjoy the full range of offerings.

Gateway Pages are pages dedicated to different themes. These gateways are specifically chosen to enrich the field of reflective experience.

A Global Map shows the participants, communities and events that registered on this website.

Community Sharing SpaceA community sharing space is available for participants to share, meet, inspire and be inspired. Please note that Facebook does not share widely from groups so you may not see the posts unless you visit the group.

Facebook Page: We will use our Facebook page to share inspiration for the day, and in some cases provide updates and useful information.

Facebook Event Page: will showcase local and online events offered by the global community. On this page you can find details and directly subscribe to the events.

OFFERINGS

We are deeply moved by the range of offerings already gifted to the collective space – from Sacred Ritual Holders holding ceremony on all continents, and the subtle activism offering of the Gateway Meditations with Cynthia Jurs and David Nicol, to the frontline activism of the nonviolent civil disobedience movement of the Extinction Rebellion

Current offerings include:art, music, reflective groups, beach clean ups, nature walks, mind-body and contemplative practices, music, videos, ceremony, webinars, meditations and more.

Diverse religious and spiritual groups are participating, each bringing their unique tradition and gifts in service of all Creation.

Our own daily offerings of guided meditations and practices invite participants to experience a deeper sense of connectedness and communion with the foundations of Life, through intuitive and imaginative attunement to the different elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Climate, Biodiversity and the Web of Life,

Through an empathic leap of the imagination we sense into how these foundations exist within us and beyond us, their unique nature and qualities, and their interdependence and relationship with the other elements.

We explore reflective questions such as:

What do they reveal to us when we listen in, with all our sense and offer them our focused attention?

What can we learn from different forms of reflective engagement about how we can best protect and replenish these elements, nourish them and be nourished by them?

CREATE YOUR UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

Please consider this website as your evolving and dynamic guidebook, event calendar, and resource library for creating your own unique experience for the 7 Days.

This global event is rooted in the spirit of generosity and provides all participants and co-creators access to a wealth of offerings from around the world. This experiential field of diverse offerings contributes to personal growth, as well as our evolution as conscious protectors of Life on Earth.

Not all offerings speak to all participants. There may be those that are considered for some to be too spiritual, while by others too rational and pragmatic… too noisy or too restful, too wordy or too vague. Some are choosing to honour the event by immersing themselves in nature and disconnecting from all media and technology. This diversity is an integral part of the design that enables people from many different cultures and perspectives to unify in protection and reverence for all Life..

We invite you to choose that which feels vitalizing and accurate for you. And, if you cannot find among the offerings something that is aligned with your specific needs and ways of participating, we invite you to create and lead an offering which opens your unique window to enrich the good of the whole.

Honouring the Foundations of Life with Shelley Ostroff

For a deeper understanding of the vision and evolution of the 7 Days of Rest and Reflection Event – you can listen to this in-depth dialogue between Dr. Julie Krull and Dr. Shelley Ostroff as they explore what it means to develop a deeper connection with the foundations of Life through this event.

GRATITUDE

We look forward to co-creating with you a global field of inspiration, reconnection and replenishment – for the planet and all its inhabitants!

As a small team, during the event dedicated to Rest and Reflection, we may not be able to be available for questions and technological support. We hope to support the unfolding in whatever way we can and trust that the most powerful force at work is our individual and collective intention and practice during these days, in whatever form it takes.

We are deeply grateful to the Sacred Ritual HoldersStewardsPartners and Co-creators who are contributing so lovingly and generously to the 7 Days of Rest Global Event. Thank you for helping this event become a powerful force for unity and healing in the world.

Blessings for a deeply healing and replenishing time for you and for all Life.

The first week of 2018 brought together individuals and groups from over 60 countries in meditation, prayer, sacred ceremony and a range of creative initiatives dedicated to the healing and replenishment of the planet and all its inhabitants.

For January 1-7, 2019, the intention was to collectively seed the New Year with a global field of restful reflection on our interdependence with all of Creation. Together we will focus our intention on restoring sacred relationship of the Feminine and Masculine with each other and with the Foundations of Life – Air, Earth, Water, Fire, The Climate, Biodiversity and with the entire Web of Life.

We’re building a movement of elders to address the social and environmental crises of our time!

Within our society, elders’ talents and experiences are largely untapped; much of our collective wisdom gained over decades of living lies fallow. This is an unfortunate waste of invaluable human resources that could be applied to addressing the serious societal and environmental problems that we face in our nation.

As elders, we have the benefits of time, talent, experience and know-how to guide making the needed transformations. We can become catalysts of a social movement in which all generations collaborate in evolving changes for our common betterment. In so doing, we find a new and rewarding sense of meaning in our lives, and we create a new elder culture in the process.

Please explore our website to see where your talents and experience fit with what we are doing – and join us!

Climate Action

Elders Climate Action (ECA) is building a non-partisan movement of elders committed to making our voices heard on the climate crisis. We are determined to change our nation’s policies while there is still time to avoid catastrophic changes in the earth’s climate. Because of this concern and because we vote consistently, elders are in a unique position to influence national policy. We are committed to using our voices, our votes, and our collective power to push for policies that will reduce greenhouse gases to a level consistent with life thriving on our planet.

Get inspired by the members of Elders Climate Action who are taking action on climate change.  We are parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, just like you, hoping to make a difference on climate action. Join ECA and get informed about the climate crisis, learn more about Elders Climate Action’s core policies and principles, access the ECA Action Tool Kit, watch webinars and videos, find climate related links, and explore what you can do with your grandchildren. Get engaged, explore ways to take action with ECA. Learn more about ECA Chapters, find events, join our action projects, national calls and more.

ECA is a great way to build connections in your area and make new friends locally and nationally.

Sri Ravi Shankar Ji,

Dadi Janki Ji, and many others.

Gyan Sarovar

The Academy for the Better World, known in Hindi as Gyan Sarovar, offers residential programs and courses on development and practical implementation of human, moral and spiritual values and principles.

The Brahma Kumaris started building the campus for the Academy for a Better World, an institution of higher learning established by the Brahma Kumaris along with its sister institution, the World Renewal Spiritual Trust, and Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, in 1991. The aim was to provide a training facility for the institution’s outreach to all sections of society. Within a few years, 28 acres of land near the institution’s headquarters in Mount Abu was transformed into a modern village complex in a quiet, rural setting.

The campus includes Universal Harmony Hall, an auditorium that can seat 1,600 people and has facilities for simultaneous translation in 16 languages; the International Spiritual Art Gallery housing sculptures, murals, audio-visual and laser displays and other works of art from around the world; the International Center for Higher Learning comprising 13 seminar and training rooms; accommodation for up to 1,500 people; kitchen and dining facilities that can cater to 1,200 people at a time; three man-made lakes that irrigate the 15,000 trees planted to provide fruits and vegetables and a rural retreat atmosphere; and a solar water heater for cooking. The telephone exchange, computers and emergency lighting systems are powered by solar and wind energy, and a unique waste treatment plant is capable of treating 200,000 liters of washing, kitchen and bathroom waste water daily, of which nearly 80 percent is available for re-use.

In 1996, the Academy was presented to Habitat II, the second UN Conference on Human Settlements held in Istanbul, Turkey. It was recognised as part of the Best Practice Initiative for Human Settlements.
